Regional Lead / Clinical Counsellor / Rehabilitation Consultant

Darby is a rehabilitation consultant and clinical counsellor for Humanworks. She offers the following services at Humanworks: rehabilitation consulting and clinical counselling/leadership coaching for BCTF and BCPVPA members, group facilitation and training including The Well Teacher Groups and BCPVPA initiatives, and she is the regional team lead for our Vancouver Island area, providing support for Humanworks consultants and collaboration with Humanworks senior management.

Darby is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP) and has extensive experience in organizational wellness, leadership coaching and psychological safety in the workplace. Darby describes the gift of her work as ‘caring for people who care for people.’  She has dedicated her career for the past 15 years to helping folks at the intersection of wellbeing and work, specifically addressing the things that get in the way of feeling well, calibrated, effective, and fulfilled.

Darby holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Dalhousie University and a Master of Arts degree in Disability Management from the University of Northern British Columbia. Darby’s passion for her work is evident in her compassionate yet pragmatic and tactical approach, and her ability to draw a connection between individual experience and the larger systemic and cultural factors.

When not working, Darby is busy with family life and being an enthusiastic novice at many things such as running, gardening and yoga. Darby connects deeply with serving her community through her role as President of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Mental Health Association – Mid-Island Branch.

Darby is grateful to reside in the unceded ancestral Coast Salish territories of the Snuneymuxw and Snaw-naw-as First Nations. She strives to consistently reflect upon and live in ways that honour the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls to action.
